Not quite the Oscars, but awards season is upon us

Tue 07 Feb 2012

The post-Christmas lull isn't necessarily the most glamorous time of year at the wood (it can be hard to ramp up the style when you're concentrating on maintinaing drainage ditches, chopping firewood and generally trying to keep warm). So we were delighted to hear that we'd been nominated for the first ever People & Environment Business Awards. And even more chuffed to hear we'd been shortlisted as finalists in the Tourism Award for an 'outstanding contribution to responsible tourism'.

We kicked off our wellies to head up to Kensington Palace for the awards night. Apparently the judges were unanimous in shortlising Wilderness Wood alongside the renowned Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, who were overall winner. We felt honoured to be seen in the same light as them (our early sustainability inclinations were inspired by visits there).

And subsequently we've heard that we're finalists in the Sustain Magazine Awards for Hospitality and Tourism. We're keeping our fingers crossed and our high heels to hand alongside our wellies!
