For most events, booking is essential. The details of each event tell you if you need to book. For events where there is no need to book, just come to the wood during the advertised time.
If you would like to come to a bookable event, please first call to check availability during office hours as places are strictly limited.
Make your booking over the phone or call in to the wood. Please pay at the time of booking - either by credit card over the phone, by credit card, cash or cheque in person, or by posting a cheque made payable to "Wilderness Wood Ltd" to Wilderness Wood, Hadlow Down, Near Uckfield, East Sussex TN22 4HJ. Places are not reserved until payment is received.
Cancellations: no refund given within two weeks of the event. A £5 admin fee will be charged if cancelled earlier. We normally continue in ALL weather conditions, but may cancel on the day in the event of exceptionally bad weather, with full refund.

Heavy horses at Wilderness Wood The gentle giants of The Working Horse Trust return to show off their skills.
The horses will be hauling coppiced poles from a newly cut area of the woodland. Meet the horses, find out about their work from friendly, knowledgeable members of the Trust.

Coppice skills
Beginners' guide to craft of coppicing. Learn to cut down poles to make fence stakes, roof shingles and other woodland products using hand tools. Enjoy tea brewed by the coppicer's fire.

Easter artists

Easter bunny hunt
Walk a little way into the spring woodland and search for the all the wooden Easter bunnies hiding among the trees. Find them all then race back for prizes for all!
Special "Baby bunny hunt" for the under-fives, collecting different colour baby bunnies.
Bunny hunting takes about an hour; start at any time between 10am and 4.30pm. Bring a pencil!

Forest folklore trail
Explore our interactive trail around the ancient woods and discover the folklore of trees and plants. Find out how artists and poets have responded to the beauty and wildness of the woods. Take inspiration from what you find, write your own poem for our competition, and enjoy messing about with charcoal drawing, sculpture and leaf collage as you make your way round the mile-long trail.

A day of exploration, identification and art, with Lyn Merrick. Hunt for creatures, identify them using keys and computer software and find out what is special about them.
