Wild Cookouts & Personal Gourmet BBQs
Fancy cooking for yourself? Have a Wild Cookout in a beautiful woodland setting. We provide own-grown firewood or local charcoal for you to cook outdoors. Or sit back & enjoy the woodland while one of our chefs serves your group a gourmet BBQ meal.
WILD COOKOUTS:
For a truly unique outdoor cooking experience spend the day in one of our beautiful woodland glades, complete with fire-pit and cooking grill, shelter and rustic furniture. At the bottom of the wood, Streamside is near a seasonal stream, and has a 10ft x 8ft semi-enclosed wooden shelter while Woodglade and Hazel Grove are in secluded clearings with open-sided 12' x 10' canvas shelters. Under Oak is nearer the top of the wood and has a smaller pitched canvas roof.
Who can do a Wild Cookout?
All the sites are suitable for groups of up to c. 15 people. Streamside, Hazel Grove and Woodglade are about a third of a mile downhill from the car park and Barn, and Under Oak is about a quarter of a mile on the level from the car park. None are accessible by vehicle, although we can deliver your gear in our Landrover for £15 each way. Under 18s must be accompanied by at least one adult.
We’ll provide:
• Up to 10 litres of water
• A sack of charcoal or barbecue wood (you can buy more if you like)
• Up to 2 wheelbarrows
• Written instructions and a map
There’s a composting toilet at Woodglade and Streamside, and not too far from Hazel Grove.
How much does a Wild Cookout cost? A wild cookout slot (from 10.30 to 5.00) costs £37.50 plus normal admission charges per person.
How do we get there?
From the Barn we can provide Landrover transport for your equipment (not people) to within 50 metres of your site if pre-booked (£15 each way).
Alternatively you can use wheelbarrows one way and we collect you afterwards (for the uphill return journey!) or you can use wheelbarrows both ways. (It might sound obvious, but please note there's no running water or electricity in the glades).
PERSONAL GOURMET BBQs
For group visits, parties and celebrations where relaxation is key, book our personal BBQ service. Sausages, gourmet burgers & grilled vegetable brochettes, cooked by one of our own chefs, served with two seasonal salads, breads, and a seasonal desert (min 15 people).
£17.75 per person (min 1 week notice).
Bookings after 5.30pm: £75 surcharge for out of hours service.
How do I book and pay?
Please call us on 01825 830 509 to book your Wild Cookout or BBQ and pay by card to guarantee your booking.
You can then pay admission for your guests on arrival at the wood.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your own matches, newspaper and utensils.
Groups of 15 or more should send a Group Booking Form.
Cancellation policy
We can't offer refunds for cancellations within two weeks of your booked date.
Cancellations made more than two weeks in advance will be refunded, less a £10 admin charge.
