This year Wilderness Wood has passed down a generation and is now owned by Joanna Yarrow who continues to run the wood in the spirit of her parents Chris and Anne Yarrow who ran the wood since 1980 and maintain an involvement as advisors and leading various activities.
The wood continues to be run as a working wood and visitor attraction with a focus on ecology and sustainability.
Joanna Yarrow is one of Britain's leading experts in green living, and specialises in helping people understand environmental principles and put them into practice.
Joanna’s books 1001 Ways You Can Save the Planet, How to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint and Ecological are all available in the gift shop and all good book shops.
She’s a founder of sustainability company Beyond Green (www.beyondgreen.co.uk), which runs practical sustainability projects - from corporate sustainability strategies and action plans to designing and delivering sustainable communities.
In July 2008 Joanna received an honorary doctorate from Staffordshire University in recognition of her work on sustainability and climate change.
